2. BOLIDISM

Maurizio Corrado
1986

Bolidism was founded by a group of 15 architects and designers, maturing during the last four years through shows, individual and group works, various experiences and mutual cooperation.

The first common stage is “Cameradesign" in september 1982 at Milan.

After a few days, another stage at Mullendorf, in Austria, on occasion of "For sale?", a three days meeting with more than 50 european architects and designers. One month later the same people were at the Modern Art Museum of Amburg for the show "Moble perdu".

These are all very important occasions for the future Bolidists; the relationship with other European designers, who look like addressed to Manierism and canalized under a diligently absorbed influence of Milan, shows the urgent need of a change.

Next step: 1983, the show "Memoria e mito balneare ", organized by Maurizio Castelvetro and Stefano Giovannoni, the attention is addressed to sea-fascination.
Precise trends are big bridges, ships, airplanes, speed-shaped and stream-lined objects and the charm of the ’30 architecture.

In September 1983, in a show called “Light”, Bepi Maggiori gathers the most interesting projects of the young European designers, lightness and brightness are their characteristics.
“Light” is a design show but also the statement of a quick, moving, active, positive and LIGHT THOGHT.

On Saturday 12/7/1986, the first Bolidist Convehtion had piace in a meeting room of the Medioeval building Re Enzo in Bologna.
This is the official date of the Bolidism birth.

The Second Bolidist Convention took place in Meran, on November 1st and 2nd, and on this occasion Bolidism was essentially definited a thinking and life style, as well as a movement extensible to all the arts.

The basis for an international Bolidism started in those days.
